S.O.A.P. is the Bible study method we use at Arlington Assembly. Every quarter we publish a new three-month reading plan that we journey through together as a church. You can download our S.O.A.P. Guide for January through March below.
You’ll need three items (Bible, Pen and Journal) to S.O.A.P. each day. For more information on this concept or to see examples of journal entries, visit www.LifeJournal.cc.
Open your Bible to your reading for the day. Take time to read and allow God to speak to you. When you are done, look for a verse that spoke to you that day, and write it in your journal.
What did you observe about the verse(s) you wrote down? What seems interesting or unusual? What jumps out at you in the passage?
As you read over the verse(s), how does it apply to you? Is there a specific action you need to take or a confession you need to make?
God is after heart transformation, not head knowledge. Take a few moments and ask God, “what are you saying to me today?” Then, write down a prayer as the Lord leads you. This can be short or long.
